You can list eligible tickets directly in the Theatr app with no seller fees. You keep the price your tickets sell for. You’ll upload proof of purchase, check the ticket details, set a price, and choose how the buyer will receive the tickets.
Once the listing is live, buyers can purchase at the listed price or send an offer. A sale is complete when the buyer’s payment succeeds; that is when you’ll find the order and delivery details.
Before you start
Make sure your tickets can be transferred to another person and are eligible to be listed on Theatr. Have your receipt or confirmation ready, and check any restrictions or delivery delays buyers need to know about.
Your asking price must be at or below what you originally paid per ticket, including original fees. See How much can I sell my tickets for? for pricing guidance.
1. Create a listing and upload your receipt
Open the app and tap Sell. If the selling overview appears, tap Create listing. Choose Upload receipt, then take a photo or select your receipt images.
Use clear proof showing the event title, event date and time, and price paid. Your proof of purchase will be visible on the listing. Use the editing tools to fully cover ticket barcodes and QR codes and hide personal or payment information buyers do not need to see. Keep the purchase price and event details visible.
Scanning begins after you upload the receipt. For more help choosing and preparing it, see What should I upload for proof of purchase?
2. Check the ticket details
Review the scanned information against your tickets and proof of purchase. Complete or correct:
The event, venue, date, and time.
The quantity and whether multiple tickets can be purchased separately.
The section, row, and seats, when applicable.
Where you originally purchased the tickets.
Any restrictions or other information the buyer needs.
If the event is missing or incorrect, tap the event title to search for the right event or add a new one. If scanning does not work, try a clearer image or enter the details yourself.
If you choose Scan receipts again, review every field afterward because a new scan may replace information you entered earlier.
3. Set your asking price
Confirm what you paid per ticket, including fees, then enter your asking price. It cannot be higher than your original cost per ticket.
Check the price and quantity together so the listing reflects what you intend to sell.
4. Choose how and when to deliver the tickets
Under Handoff Method, select the option that matches how the buyer will receive the tickets:
Instant E-Ticket Transfer: Upload ticket files before the sale so they can be delivered automatically after purchase.
Email or Text: Send the tickets directly to the buyer after purchase.
Via original platform: Transfer through the original ticketing platform.
Box office pick up: Arrange for the buyer to collect the tickets at the venue.
In person: Meet the buyer for the handoff.
Other: Describe another available delivery method.
For Instant E-Ticket Transfer, tap Upload My Tix and upload the actual ticket files with complete, scannable barcodes or QR codes. Use another handoff method if the buyer needs an official platform transfer or the barcode changes. See How Instant E-Ticket Transfer works for suitable files and multi-ticket uploads.
Proof of purchase and ticket files are separate: cover barcodes on your public proof, but leave them visible on tickets uploaded for delivery.
For other handoff methods, select an accurate Expected Transfer Timing. Buyers can see it before purchasing. Check the email address or phone number you’ll use to coordinate delivery.
5. Select your payout method and publish
Choose from the payout options shown in the form. Direct Deposit supports U.S. bank accounts. You do not need to connect a bank account before listing, but you will need an approved Stripe payout method before transferring available earnings to your bank.
Review the event details, seats, quantity, original cost, asking price, handoff method, transfer timing, contact information, payout method, and buyer notes. When everything is correct, tap Publish.
What happens after I submit the listing?
The confirmation screen shows the listing’s current state. It may first say the listing is submitted while checking its status, then show that it is under review, live, or needs changes. A submitted listing is not necessarily available to buyers yet.
Follow the listing under Orders → Sell → Manage. A listing being reviewed shows In Review. Once it is live, it shows Looking for buyer.
If it shows Action Needed, open the listing and read the explanation. Tap Update Listing, correct the requested details or proof, and publish the changes for review. Existing paid orders remain separate from the listing’s review status.
How do I manage a live listing or respond to offers?
Open Orders → Sell → Manage to check the listing, lower its asking price, review offers and orders, or use Manage to edit or deactivate it.
If you receive an offer, review its price, quantity, and expiration before accepting, declining, or countering. In the pay-after-acceptance flow, Accepted — payment pending means the buyer still needs to pay. Your listing remains available, and you do not need to hold the tickets for that buyer.
See How do offers work for sellers? for payment deadlines and what happens after each response.
If the tickets sell elsewhere or you can no longer supply them, deactivate the listing promptly so another buyer cannot purchase them. Deactivating a listing does not cancel a paid order; handle any completed sale through that order.
What do I do when the tickets sell?
Theatr sends a sale notification after payment succeeds. Open Orders → Sell → select the listing → Orders to find the paid order and buyer details.
Instant E-Ticket Transfer: Your uploaded files are delivered automatically. You do not need to send them again or mark them as transferred.
Other handoff methods: Wait for the paid order, then use its buyer details and instructions to deliver the tickets. After the buyer has access, tap I have transferred the ticket(s) and upload proof of the completed handoff.
Stay available in case the buyer needs help. See How do I transfer tickets to the buyer? for the full steps.
When will I get paid?
After a paid sale, earnings appear as pending in your Theatr Wallet. For Direct Deposit, they generally become available about two business days after the event, provided there is no open dispute or payout review. You can then transfer the available balance through Stripe; bank arrival is a separate step.
For details, see When do I get paid after selling tickets? An accepted offer awaiting payment does not create sale earnings.
