What should I upload for proof of purchase?

Learn what proof of purchase to upload, what to hide from buyers, and where to send additional documents for review.

Use a clear purchase confirmation or receipt to show which tickets you bought and how much you paid. Proof of Purchase images are visible to buyers on your listing, so hide personal information and ticket codes before uploading them.

If our review team asks for more documents, use the private upload in your listing’s review card. The section Send additional proof to the review team below explains that separate process.

What your proof needs to show

  • The event name, date and time.

  • The amount you paid per ticket, including original ticketing fees.

  • The ticket quantity and price breakdown, if the confirmation covers several tickets.

You can upload more than one image when these details are not all in one place. A ticket’s printed face value may leave out fees, so include the receipt or purchase confirmation showing the full amount. For lottery and rush tickets, use what you actually paid, including fees, rather than the regular ticket price.

Choose the right document

Digital or physical tickets

Use a purchase confirmation email, order confirmation or receipt. You can also use a photo of a physical ticket if it shows the required details. If the ticket does not show the full price and fees, include the purchase confirmation as well.

A lottery winner notification alone does not show that you paid. Include the payment confirmation.

Tickets bought on Theatr

Use your own Theatr purchase confirmation email. The original purchase price can include the Theatr service fee you paid on that purchase, and your asking price can be up to that full amount per ticket.

Tickets bought with vouchers, credits or gift cards

Use the order confirmation showing the ticket price, any voucher, credit or gift card applied, and the final total. If you count that value toward the amount paid, also include proof that it came from money you paid. This could be a voucher or gift-card receipt, or an earlier paid order together with the cancellation or refund record showing it was returned as account credit.

Free promotional credit and discounts do not count toward the amount paid. See Can I sell tickets purchased with vouchers, credits or gift cards?

Hide sensitive information before adding public proof

Before uploading to Proof of Purchase:

  • Cover ticket barcodes and QR codes completely.

  • Hide your name, email, mailing address and order number.

  • Hide card and bank details, other payment details, and voucher or gift-card codes.

Keep the event, quantity, amount paid and fee or credit breakdown readable. Do not change the purchase details. Before publishing, check that the images are clear and support the original purchase price entered in your listing.

The actual ticket is different from proof of purchase. If you use Instant E-Ticket Transfer, the ticket delivered to the buyer needs its complete, scannable barcode or QR code. Do not cover that entry code.

Send additional proof to the review team

If Action Needed asks for more proof, read the request and prepare the document it names. Purchase confirmations sent privately should be complete, with nothing cropped or covered, including the name and order number. For a requested bank or card record, include only the relevant transaction and cover account/card details and unrelated transactions.

  1. Go to Orders → Sell and open the listing.

  2. Tap Update Listing and expand the review card if it is collapsed.

  3. Under Add note to our review team (optional), choose Upload and add the requested photos or PDF.

  4. Make any other requested changes, then tap Publish to submit for review.

Only the review team can see files in this area. Keep these complete documents out of public Proof of Purchase and the ticket files used for delivery. The note is optional; a document requested in the review message is still needed.

If you cannot find the private upload

On older app screens, look for Reply to our review team or Photos for our review team. If the upload is missing even after expanding the card, check for an app update or sign in to the same account at theatr-app.com and edit the listing there.

For a missing purchase total only: if no app update is available and you cannot use the website, a redacted order confirmation can be added to public Proof of Purchase. Follow the privacy instructions above, keep the event, quantity, price and fees visible, then tap Publish. This cannot replace private documents needed to check ownership or transfer details; contact Support for those requests.

If you still cannot find the field or upload the file, contact Support with the listing details and a screenshot of the problem. Continue your existing conversation with us if you have one.
