To sell tickets, tap Sell in Theatr, upload proof of purchase, check the ticket details, set your price and choose a handoff method. Once the listing is live, buyers can buy or send offers. Only send tickets after payment succeeds and a paid order appears.
If you sell with an institutional account, some labels and steps differ. See How do I sell with an institutional account?.
Before you list
Check that another person can use your tickets and that they’re eligible to sell on Theatr. Have your receipt ready and check restrictions or delays you need to tell buyers about.
Your asking price can’t exceed what you originally paid per ticket, including original fees. See How much can I sell my tickets for?
Create a listing
Your proof of purchase will be public. Use a clear receipt showing the event title, date, time and price paid. Cover all ticket barcodes and QR codes, plus personal or payment details buyers don’t need. Leave the price and event details visible.
Tap Sell. If the selling overview appears, tap Create listing.
Choose Upload receipt, then take a photo or select your receipt images. Scanning starts after upload.
For help preparing your receipt, see What should I upload for proof of purchase?
Check the ticket details
Compare the scanned details with your tickets and receipt. Complete or correct:
Event, venue, date and time.
Quantity and whether buyers can purchase tickets separately.
Section, row and seats, where applicable.
Original ticket source.
Restrictions and anything else the buyer needs to know.
For a missing or incorrect event, tap the event title to search or add it. Adding an event requires a poster image. If an existing event shows “Poster is required”, contact us instead of adding a duplicate.
If scanning fails, try a clearer image or enter the details yourself. After using Scan receipts again, check every field because the scan can replace earlier entries.
Set your asking price
Confirm what you paid per ticket, including fees, then enter your asking price. Check the price and quantity together before continuing.
Choose how and when the buyer gets the tickets
Under Handoff Method, choose the option that matches how you’ll send or hand over the tickets. For digital tickets, check these conditions:
Upload e-tickets to Theatr (or Instant E-Ticket Transfer): Upload files before selling. Theatr sends them automatically after purchase.
Email or Text: After purchase, send static files that the provider and venue accept for entry.
Via original platform: For changing barcodes or tickets that require a provider transfer, use this option only when the provider’s transfer is available or confirmed to open before the event.
For Upload e-tickets to Theatr, tap Upload My Tix. Upload final PDFs or images with static barcodes that the provider and venue accept. See How Instant E-Ticket Transfer works for eligible files and multi-ticket uploads.
Cover barcodes on public proof of purchase. Leave them visible on ticket files uploaded for the buyer to use.
If Via original platform is needed but missing, or transfer availability is unclear, contact us before listing. Tell us the ticket source, format and handoff options shown.
For every method except Upload e-tickets to Theatr, set Expected Transfer Timing to when you can send the tickets. Choose Transfer right away only when you can send them as soon as they sell. With that setting, you can’t arrange a later time after the sale. Buyers see your chosen timing before buying.
Check the email address or phone number you’ll use to coordinate the handoff.
Choose a payout method and publish
Choose from the payout options shown. You can list before adding a payout method, but must complete Stripe’s setup and required verification before transferring available earnings. Setting it up before selling gives you time to fix any problems. See How do I add a payout method?
Review the event, seats, quantity, original cost, asking price, handoff method, timing, contact details, payout method and buyer notes.
Tap Publish. Check whether the app says the listing is live, in review or needs changes.
For “Get updates about your listing?”, tap Allow and follow the system prompts to turn on listing notifications.
Check the listing after publishing
Find it under Orders → Sell. Listings being reviewed show “In Review”. For a live listing, open it to see “Looking for Buyer” in “Manage Listing”.
For “Action Needed”, open the explanation. Tap Update Listing, make the requested changes, then tap Publish to resubmit. See What does my listing’s status mean? for steps, including additional proof.
Manage a live listing
Open the listing under Orders → Sell to check its status, lower the price or review offers and orders. Use Manage to edit or deactivate it. If the listing goes back into review, keep sending tickets for existing paid orders.
If the tickets sell elsewhere or you can’t supply them, deactivate as soon as you can to prevent another purchase. This doesn’t cancel paid orders. Open any paid order to send the tickets or cancel it.
Respond to offers
Under Orders → Sell, open the listing and Offers. Check the price, quantity, note and expiration before accepting, declining or countering.
Buyers authorize payment when sending an offer. Accepting processes payment automatically. Check that a paid order appears before sending tickets. For a counteroffer, the buyer follows its payment prompts and expiration. See How do offers work for sellers?
Send tickets after a paid sale
We notify you after payment succeeds. Go to Orders → Sell, open the listing, then the buyer’s paid order under Orders.
Instant E-Ticket Transfer orders send uploaded files automatically. Don’t resend them or mark them as transferred. For other methods, follow the paid order’s details and send the tickets. Once the buyer can access them, complete any remaining I have transferred the ticket(s) step and upload proof.
Stay reachable if the buyer needs help. Take down listings for the same tickets elsewhere as soon as they sell. See How do I transfer tickets to the buyer?
Get paid
After you confirm the transfer, your earnings appear as “Pending” in Wallet. Instant E-Ticket Transfer orders confirm automatically after purchase. Earnings generally become available about two business days after the event unless disputed. You can then transfer the available balance through Stripe and check the bank payout in Stripe Express.
