Theatr is a marketplace for live-event resale tickets. Sellers list tickets at or below what they originally paid, including fees. You can buy at the listed price or, where available, make an offer.
Before buying or sending an offer, check that the tickets and delivery arrangements work for your plans. Here’s how to find a listing, complete your purchase, and get your tickets.
1. Find an event
If you don’t have Theatr yet, download the app for iOS or Android. Open Marketplace, then browse or search for the event, date, and time you want.
If there aren’t any listings that work for you, turn on a Notify Alert for the event. Theatr can notify you when a new listing matches your selected preferences. An alert does not reserve tickets. See How do Notify Alerts work?
2. Review the listing and choose your quantity
Check the following before buying:
The event date, time, and venue.
The number of tickets and whether they can be purchased separately.
The section, row, and seat information, when provided.
The total price per ticket.
The delivery method and expected transfer time.
The seller’s notes, ticket restrictions, and proof of purchase.
Want a sense of the view before choosing seats? Browse the event’s Seat Views alongside the listing’s section, row, and seat details. Photos are community contributions and may show a different seat from the one listed. See How do I view and share Seat Views?
The displayed listing price includes Theatr’s service fee. At checkout, Order Total reflects the quantity you selected.
Use the quantity controls if they are available. If you cannot change the quantity, the remaining tickets are being sold together and you’ll need to buy the full quantity shown.
3. Choose how to buy
Buy at the listed price: Tap Buy Now to continue to checkout. If you see Someone’s checking out, another buyer is temporarily checking out. The listing may become available again if that purchase is not completed.
Offer a different price: If Make Offer is available, choose your offer amount and expiration time, then follow the app’s prompts to authorize payment and submit it. This places a temporary hold on your payment method. Payment is processed automatically if the seller accepts, with no separate checkout. Only send an offer for tickets you are ready to buy; the offer itself is not a completed purchase.
For sending, managing, and canceling offers, see How does Make Offer work?
4. Review your details and complete payment
Before paying or submitting an offer, enter your contact details. Choose email or text message from the options shown. If an email address is required, enter one you can access. The seller may use these details to send your tickets or coordinate delivery.
Check this information carefully because it cannot currently be edited on the order after purchase. If you need to correct it later, open the order and tap Help → Contact Seller to let the seller know.
For Buy Now, review the ticket details and Order Total, then finish checkout using the steps below. With Make Offer, authorize payment when submitting your offer; once the seller accepts and the purchase is confirmed, go to step 5. Follow the payment prompts shown if you choose to purchase a counteroffer.
If a Held for countdown appears, the tickets are temporarily reserved for that checkout. Complete your purchase before the timer ends; otherwise, they may become available to another buyer.
Tap Confirm & Pay to open Stripe’s payment screen. Choose an available payment method and finish the purchase.
5. Find your order and tickets
Once the purchase is complete, open Orders → Buy and select the order.
Instant E-Ticket Transfer: The uploaded tickets are available through the order. You do not need to wait for a separate transfer from the seller.
Other delivery methods: The seller sends the tickets or coordinates the handoff using your order’s contact information. Follow the delivery arrangements and expected transfer timing shown on the listing.
For the steps for each delivery method, see How will I receive my tickets? If you need help with the transfer, you can contact the seller from the order or contact Theatr Support.
What if I’m not sure my purchase completed?
Check Orders → Buy for a completed purchase before attempting another payment. A pending authorization alone does not confirm a purchase.
If the app says We’re still confirming your payment status. This may take a few moments after you tried to pay, wait and check your orders again.
If the status remains unclear, your card shows a completed charge but no order appears, or the seller accepted your offer but the app still asks you to pay, contact Theatr Support before paying again.
If a Buy Now or counteroffer checkout clearly failed or was canceled, you can try again if there is no completed charge or order and the tickets are still available. For a counteroffer, also check that it has not expired. Do not pay again for an order that is already complete.
