What does my listing's status mean?

Find out what In Review, Action Needed and other listing statuses mean, why a listing isn't live yet, and what to do next.

You can see the status of each listing in Orders → Sell. Listings that are on sale, being reviewed or waiting for you are under In Progress; finished ones are under Completed. Tap a listing to open Manage Listing, where you'll find its details and options.

After you publish

We review every listing before it goes live. When you publish, the app shows one of these results:

  • Your listing is live! Buyers can find and buy your tickets now. We'll let you know when someone buys or makes an offer.

  • Your listing is under review. The listing shows In Review and isn't available to buyers yet. This usually takes a few minutes, and the listing goes live on its own once it's approved. You don't need to publish it again.

  • We need more information. The listing isn't published yet, and it shows Action Needed. Tap See what to fix, then follow the steps under If your listing needs to be updated below.

If your listing stays In Review for much longer than a few minutes, or the event is coming up soon, contact us with the event name and date. If you're already chatting with us, continue in that conversation.

Why does my listing show Action Needed?

Action Needed on a listing card means there's something for you to do. Open the listing to see which of these applies:

  • Your listing needs more information before it can go live. It isn't on sale yet. See If your listing needs to be updated below.

  • Your listing has been temporarily taken down, so it's no longer on sale. See If your listing has been taken down below.

  • A buyer has made an offer. Your listing is still on sale; accept, decline or counter the offer before it expires. See How do offers work for sellers?

  • You have an order waiting for you to transfer the tickets. Send the tickets to your buyer, then upload proof to confirm the transfer. See How do I transfer tickets to the buyer?

If your listing needs to be updated

When we need more information, the listing page shows Your listing needs to be updated, and Manage Listing shows a We need more information card listing what to add or change. We also send you the details by email.

  1. Open the listing and tap Review at the top of the page. You can also go to Orders → Sell, tap the listing and tap Update Listing. Manage → Edit doesn't show this card, so use Review or Update Listing.

  2. Make each change listed in the card. If we've asked for documents, tap Upload under Add note to our review team (optional). These files are only visible to our review team. You can also add a note to explain your changes. A note on its own doesn't send the listing for review.

  3. Tap Publish. We'll review the listing again, and it goes live once it passes review.

For help preparing documents, see What should I upload for proof of purchase? If you can't provide what we've asked for, or you think the request is a mistake, contact us with the listing details and what you have.

If you no longer want to sell these tickets

You don't have to make the changes. The listing isn't on sale, so buyers can't see or buy it. To withdraw it, go to Orders → Sell, tap the listing, then tap Manage → Deactivate and confirm. Afterwards it may still show Action Needed; it has been withdrawn, and buyers can't see it.

To sell the tickets later, update the listing with the information we asked for and publish it again. If you don't see Deactivate, update the Theatr app.

If your listing has been taken down

A listing can be taken down while it's on sale, for example after someone reports a problem with it. The listing page shows Your listing has been temporarily taken down, and Manage Listing explains what needs to change. We also let you know by notification and email.

While it's taken down:

  • Buyers can't see or buy the listing, and any pending offers are declined.

  • Orders you've already received stay active. Keep transferring tickets for those orders as usual.

To put it back on sale, tap Review at the top of the listing page, or Update Listing in Manage Listing. Make the changes described, then tap Publish. We'll review it again, and it goes back on sale once it passes review.

A taken-down listing can't be deactivated. If you don't want to sell it anymore, you don't need to do anything: it stays off sale. If you think it was taken down by mistake, contact us with the listing details.

If you reach the review limit

If you see “This listing has reached its review limit”, contact us with the listing details, the review message and any supporting documents you have so we can check the listing. If you already have a conversation with us, continue there.

If your event can't be listed

Theatr supports events in the New York City area. If you see This event can't be listed when you publish, or your listing is taken down because of the event's location, adding documents won't change that. Keep the venue on your listing accurate. If your event is in the supported area, contact us with the venue name and address.

Other listing statuses

When nothing needs your attention, Manage Listing shows one of these:

  • Looking for Buyer: your listing is live, and buyers can buy it or make offers.

  • Someone's Checking Out: a buyer is completing a purchase for these tickets right now. You can't edit the listing or change its price until they finish.

  • Sold Out: all the tickets have sold, or the event started after some of them sold. Check your orders to transfer the tickets you've sold.

  • Deactivated: the listing isn't on sale, usually because you deactivated it. See Reactivate or Republish an Unsold Listing.

  • Expired: the event started before any tickets from the listing sold.

This listing is closed

You'll see this on the listing page when the listing isn't on sale, for example because you deactivated it or the event has passed. If you didn't expect this and the page doesn't show anything for you to update, contact us with the listing details so we can check it.

Does this affect my account?

A listing that's in review or needs more information doesn't, on its own, mean your account is restricted, and a listing for an event outside the supported area isn't a seller violation. If your listings are taken down repeatedly, it can affect your ability to sell.

Contacting us about a listing

Tell us the event, the date and what you see on the listing page; a screenshot helps. If you're already chatting with us, continue in that conversation. Otherwise, see How do I contact Theatr Support?
