What do I do if my buyer cancels?

Learn what happens to your order, payout, and listing when a buyer cancels.

A buyer may be able to cancel a non-Instant Transfer order while Theatr is still waiting for the seller to confirm the ticket transfer.

What happens after the cancellation?

When the buyer cancels:

  • The order closes.

  • You will not receive a payout for that order.

  • The buyer’s payment is released or returned.

  • If the listing is still eligible, it may automatically become available for sale again.

Open Orders → Sell to check the order and listing status. If you no longer control the tickets or do not want to sell them, deactivate the listing immediately.

What if I already sent the tickets?

Sending tickets through another platform does not automatically confirm the transfer in Theatr.

After sending the tickets, return to Orders → Sell, open the order, tap I have transferred the ticket(s), and upload proof of the completed transfer.

For the full process, see How do I mark tickets as transferred?.

If the order was canceled before you confirmed the transfer:

  1. Check the original ticketing platform immediately.

  2. If the transfer is still pending and the platform allows it, cancel or revoke the transfer.

  3. If the buyer accepted the transfer or it cannot be reversed, deactivate the listing and contact Theatr Support from the order. Include your transfer confirmation.

Theatr cannot reverse a transfer completed outside the app. Support can review the order, but a payout is not guaranteed.

If the buyer has only asked to cancel and the order is still active, see How do I cancel or refund an order?.
