Why does the ticket show a lower price than what I paid?

The face value printed on a ticket often doesn’t include the fees charged when the ticket was originally purchased. The seller may have paid more than the printed ticket price after those fees were added.

The price you see on Theatr also includes our service fee.

Check the seller’s proof of purchase

You can view the seller’s proof of purchase on the listing. Check it promptly after buying. The seller’s ticket price should be no higher than what they actually paid per ticket, including original purchase fees.

When comparing the amounts:

  • Check that the receipt matches the event, date and tickets being sold, and confirm how many tickets its total covers.

  • Use the amount actually paid. Lottery, rush or discounted tickets may have cost less than their printed face value.

  • Compare the seller’s original cost per ticket with the ticket price you paid, excluding Theatr’s service fee for your purchase.

If the price is still unclear

If the ticket price still appears higher than the seller’s cost after accounting for fees, or the proof of purchase is missing information you need to check the price, you can submit a pricing concern for us to review.

Open Orders → Buy → select your order → Help → Dispute and choose “Tickets were sold above price paid.”

You can submit once the seller has confirmed the transfer in Theatr, including before the event. Submit no later than 30 minutes after the event’s listed start time.

Include the listing price, available proof of purchase, and a short explanation of what doesn’t match or what’s missing. Submit with what you have before the deadline; don’t wait for a seller reply or for all the details to be confirmed. See How do I open a dispute? for the full steps.

If you can’t submit a dispute

After the deadline, we can’t accept a new pricing dispute, including when the seller’s proof of purchase is incomplete.

If you tried to submit within the window but a problem with Theatr prevented it, contact Support right away with your order details, when you tried, and what happened. If you’re already chatting with us, continue in that conversation.

A Support review does not reopen the in-app window or guarantee a refund.
