What are institutional accounts?

Learn what institutional accounts are, what the verified badge means, and how to apply.

Institutional accounts are for producing organizations and approved resellers that regularly sell ticket inventory on Theatr. We review these accounts before approving them and adding a verified badge.

What types of institutional accounts are there?

Theatr currently offers two types:

  • Producing Organization: A theatre, producer, event organizer, or other organization authorized to sell its own ticket inventory.

  • Reseller: An approved seller who regularly manages and lists ticket inventory.

Institutional accounts may manage more listings than personal accounts and may sell tickets they are authorized to distribute.

What does the verified badge mean?

You’ll see a blue verified badge next to the account’s name. This means Theatr has reviewed the account and approved it as an institutional account.

The badge applies to the account as a whole. Before purchasing, review the performance date, seats, price, and transfer details included in each listing.

Purchasing from an institutional account works the same way as any other purchase on Theatr. You’ll complete your order in the app and receive the tickets using the transfer method shown in the listing.

Do institutional accounts follow Theatr’s pricing rules?

Yes. Institutional accounts follow the same pricing rules as other sellers. Tickets are listed at or below their original price.

How do I apply for an institutional account?

To apply:

  1. Open the Theatr app and go to Settings.

  2. Tap Apply for Institutional Account.

  3. Select the account type that best describes you.

  4. Complete and submit the application.

We’ll review your application and follow up by email within 10 business days. We may contact you if we need more information.

If your application is approved, a verified badge will be added to your account.
