If you don’t have a traditional US bank account, Wise may be an option for receiving your Theatr earnings. Eligible Wise users can get USD receiving details, including a US routing number and account number, that can be connected to Stripe for payouts.
Your payouts still go through Stripe, so you’ll need to complete Stripe’s payout setup and any required verification.
You can list tickets before adding a payout method, but we recommend completing payout setup before selling, so you can resolve any issues before you have earnings to withdraw.
1. Get your Wise USD account details
First, check that Wise offers USD account details where you live.
You don’t need an existing US bank account to get these details. Wise provides them after you complete its requirements. Sign up using your actual country of residence and address.
In Wise:
Add USD as a currency in your account.
Select Get account details and complete the requirements shown.
Once your details are available, open USD and view your account details. You’ll need the account-holder name, ACH routing number, and account number.
If you already have Wise USD account details, you can use those. There’s no need to open another Wise account.
For help with this step, see Wise’s guide to getting account details.
2. Connect Wise to your Theatr payouts
If you’re setting up payouts for the first time
Open Theatr and go to Orders → Sell → Wallet.
Tap Add Payout Method. If you’ve already started setup, tap Update Payout Method to continue.
Follow Stripe’s instructions. When asked where to send your payouts, choose Bank account.
If Stripe shows a list of banks, look for the option to enter your bank details manually, which may appear below the bank list. You don’t need to find Wise by name.
Enter the account-holder name, ACH routing number, and account number from your Wise USD account details. If asked for the account type, choose Checking.
Complete any remaining information or verification Stripe requests.
For this setup, use your USD account details, not your Wise debit card number or account details for another currency. Button wording may vary depending on your language settings.
If you already have a connected payout account
Log in to Stripe Express, open Settings, and find Payout details under Business details. Select Edit, enter your Wise USD account details, and complete any verification requested.
See How do I change my payout method? for the full instructions.
Updating your payout method won’t redirect a payout that has already been sent to your previous account. If your current US bank account works for you, you can continue using it.
3. Transfer your earnings
Once payout setup is complete and your earnings are available, go to Orders → Sell → Wallet → Transfer Balance → Direct Deposit via Stripe.
Your payout will be sent in USD to your connected Wise account. Adding Wise as your payout method doesn’t automatically transfer your Theatr balance.
Once the money arrives in Wise, you can keep it there or use Wise to convert it and transfer it to your local bank account. Check Wise’s fees and estimated delivery time before making that transfer.
Using Wise doesn’t change when your Theatr earnings become available. See How do I get paid after selling tickets? for the usual process and timing.
What if I get stuck?
If you can’t find the manual bank-entry option, Stripe asks for information you don’t have, or you see an error, contact Theatr through Profile → Settings → Contact Us. Tell us which step you reached and the message you see, and we’ll help you identify the next step.
For trouble opening a Wise account or getting USD account details, contact Wise.
Enter bank details and identity documents only through Wise’s or Stripe’s secure forms. Please don’t send full account numbers, identity documents, passwords, or verification codes in support chat.
