I got a refund. When will it show up in my account?

Learn how canceled payment authorizations and completed refunds appear in your account.

After an order is canceled or refunded, the money is returned to the original payment method. How it appears depends on whether the payment was still pending or had already been completed.

If the transaction is still pending

A pending transaction is usually an authorization hold. It temporarily reserves the money on your payment method, but the payment has not been completed.

When the order is canceled, the hold is released. You won’t receive a separate credit. Instead, the pending transaction will disappear from your account.

Released authorizations generally disappear within one to five business days, depending on your bank or card provider.

If the transaction was completed

If the payment was already completed, a refund will be sent to the payment method used for the purchase.

Most refunds appear within 5–10 business days. Depending on your bank, the refund may appear as:

  • A separate credit

  • A reversal of the original charge

  • The original charge disappearing from your statement

How can I check the status?

First, open Theatr and go to Orders → Buy to confirm that the order is marked as canceled or refunded.

Then check your bank or card activity:

  • Pending means the original authorization is still being released.

  • Completed or posted means the original payment finished processing.

  • Reversed or refunded means the money is being returned or has already been returned.

What if I used a replaced or expired card?

The refund is still sent to the payment method used for the purchase. Your bank or card provider will usually route it to your replacement card or account. Contact your bank if you’re unsure where the refund will appear.

When should I contact Support?

Contact Theatr Support if:

  • A pending authorization remains longer than your bank’s normal processing time.

  • More than 10 business days have passed since a completed payment was refunded.

  • Your order is marked as refunded, but your bank cannot locate the refund.

  • The amount returned does not match the order.

Include the event, order, refund amount, and last four digits of the payment method.
